A Little Bit About a Lot of Things

A lifestyle blog with a focus on my food adventures

I  have been meaning to try this place for a while now, but never wanted to go downtown to get chocolate (I like to go to places  that have plenty of parking). I was quite excited when I looked at the website and found out that they have a store in the Chestnut Hill mall. Hotel Chocolat is a small shop on the first floor sandwiched between a jewelry store and the Coach store. The downtown store has been open since September and the Chestnut Hill store has been open since November.

The store is bright and well organized. I purchased the Isabelle and the Brownie. They were $7 each (for 6) or 3 for $18. The Isabelle is a ‘praline filled cup topped with an almond and honey Florentine’. I thought it was just ok. It was a nice mixture between smooth and crunchy. The Florentine part was quite sweet and sticks to your teeth.  The Brownie is ‘our version of the classic bake: pecans, chocolate and choco-crispies for added texture’. I love this! Milk chocolate with a white chocolate square on top.  It has a smooth taste with a little bit of crunch from the crispies.

They have dark chocolate bars called the purist, which are single origin chocolate bars. I bought 3 for my boss, a 75% from Tsachila Ecuador, a 72% from Ocumare Valley Venezuela, and a 82% bar from Hacienda Iara Plantation in Ecuador. I’m not a dark chocolate fan but will post again when I get his review.

I would say all in all some of the better chocolate I’ve had.
